Marianna Trofimova was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She was educated in St. Petersburg and New York City, where she attended the Pratt Insitute. Growing up, Marianna was fascinated by the skillful craftsmanship of the Russian jewelers she saw at the Hermitage. She is a world traveler, and on her journeys discovered the art of Africa and Far East, which continues to influence her work. When designing her pieces, Marianna works in a painterly fashion, first creating a pallet of precious stones and metals, and then entwining them into shape. Marianna’s art has been exhibited in galleries in New York City’s SoHo and Chelsea, and she has created illustrations for the New York Times. She has also done graphic design for some of New York City’s most prestigious advertising and media agencies. She resides in Brooklyn, NY.
